Universal Studios Singapore, Finally!!!

Another lazy Sunday morning. My second favourite day of the week. The first being Friday, of course! :D (So lame, right? )

We usually have our Sunday breakfast at “Syed’s” in Simpang Bedok, as Shafiq just loves the “roti prata/canai” and the “milo dinosaur” there. This morning however, I was feeling a bit “rajin” so I made some “cucur udang”. After finishing breakfast, Hubby has gone to the bicycle shop with our good friend/neighbour B to get their bikes fixed. Both wanted to go cycling at 6am this morning but discovered at the very last minute that there was something wrong with their bicycle tires. Shafiq is glued to the Nickelodean channel on TV, so Mummy is having some “me time” at the moment.  So I decided to use this “me time” to do some “photo-blogging” of our recent trip to the Universal Studios Singapore (USS).

The much awaited USS finally opened its doors to the public on March 18, 2010. A 20 hectares theme park located within Resorts World Sentosa, Sentosa Island, Singapore, with 7 theme zones : The Lost World,  Far Far Away, Sci-Fi City, New York, Hollywood, Ancient Egypt and Madagascar

An important bit of info that I would like to share with anybody who’s planning a trip to USS any time soon. Please plan your trip way in advance by purchasing the tickets online. We bought our tickets for our trip to USS on May 1, 2010, three weeks before. You see, it’s pointless to go to USS and purchase your tickets at the ticket counter as the tickets are usually sold out within an hour. (especially on weekends and public holidays. As USS is quite new, everybody wants to check it out, hence the sold out tickets.

Ticket price is cheaper by a few SGD for weekdays entry.

Let the "photo-blogging" begin......

With my in-laws, at Universal Studios signature globe.
(outside the main entrance to USS)

The atmosphere that greets you as you step into USS.

Inside USS. Us with Woody Woodpecker.

Some of them, who made their way to USS that day.
(Our friend Sudesh refers to them as the "pondicherries")
How can anybody fall asleep in a bustling and noisy
theme park, I can't help but wonder....

Shafiq and Daddy in Madagascar.
(In case nobody has figured it out by now,
Shafiq and Daddy are both hardcore Manchester United fans.) :D

Shafiq enjoying "King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round".

Far, Far Away.....

Outside the castle in Far, Far Away.

Que-ing up for Shrek 4D Adventure.

Shafiq and cousin "Fafan".

"Donkey Live" - an interactive live show.

Making our way to Water World. As it was a freaking hot day,
wearing black was indeed stupid of me. :(

Entrance to Water World.

A live water show with real explosions of fire and water.
Based on the movie "Water World".(too loud for comfort, though!)

This little boy was clearly not a fan of the "Water World" live show!

Lunch time. What a relief to be able to be in an air-conditioned
space after hours in the hot blazing sun. By the way,
a little info for my Muslim friends, there's a few
Halal certified eateries in USS.

In "Ancient Egypt". (No need to fly all the way to Cairo! :D)

Hubby and me in so called "New York".

Wanted to snap a family pic of the 3 of us,
but little nephew came wondering in.
So, took another shot with him in the pic. :D

In so-called "Hollywood". Last pic of the day.

So there you go folks, some pics from our trip to Universal Studios Singapore. I'm not much of a theme park enthusiast, but on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give USS, a 7.5. Hubby disagrees with my rating. He's giving USS an 8.5 rating and darling son rates it a perfect 10! ( to be expected from a 7 years old boy! :D)

I expect to be making more trips to USS soon with friends and families already planning trips to Singapore. I wonder if I can beat my record of visiting Hong Kong Disneyland 22 times! :D

Have a relaxing Sunday you all!

  3. Hi Pearly. U're welcome. Hope the very little bit of info will help you plan your trip to USS. Between Disneyland & USS, I think I'm more of a Disneyland fan.
As USS is still pretty new, I think they have a lot more to improve. I don't think the staff at USS are as friendly as the staff in DLHK. Furthermore, the waiting time at the popular rides can take as long as 90 minutes! In DLHK, you can always plan your rides by taking the fast pass, so you don't really have to wait that long & the fast pass is free.In USS, they also have the fast pass system but you have to pay extra.
Pearly, let me know when you're planning the trip to USS. We must meet up, ok? Take care. Hugs n Kisses to adorable Bell.
